Play me…Kid Canaveral
So I’m almost over my hangover from Kid Canaveral’s Baubles gig yesterday and thought I’d post this track - the charmingly titled You Only Went Out to Get Drunk Last Night. One of my favourites from the Edinburgh band I LOVE the video, will make you laugh and if in the midst of a paranoid morning after drinking haze make you feel ten times better. The song hails from their debut album Shouting at Wildlife, undoubtedly one the bounciest indie records of last year.
The affable foursome played some great new material at Baubles, as a first peek at their second album I wouldn’t be putting my neck on the line by saying you should expect good things. A day long shindig of the finest musical prowess Kid Canaveral’s set also included a wee collaboration with King Creosote, the sparkly, beer can fueled crowd dancing their way right through it.
I didn’t catch the full line up but kudos also goes to the mighty Slow Club who literally made my night with Christmas Baby Please Come Home and Standard Fare - a band who I knew nothing about pre-gig but on first listen are purveyors of some promising indie. Also discovered their website www.standardfare.co.uk to be pretty sweet, points for the floating clouds (that’s right musos I am really easily pleased).
